NBA Draft Recap

In his second draft at the helm of the New York Knicks, Donnie Walsh addressed needs in the team’s front and backcourt. After being denied the opportunity to select crowd favorite Stephen Curry, Walsh went for the best big man available in Arizona’s PF Jordan Hill. Hill (6-10 / 235lbs) is a product player who averaged double figures in both scoring (18.3) and rebounding (11.0) as a junior for the Wildcats. Hill fills the need for a shot blocker (1.7 per contest) and gives the Knicks an active post player who can contribute on both ends of the floor....FULL ARTICLE

Formula 50
Yet another 50 loss season for the beleaguered New York Knicks, who find themselves thinking about ping pong balls instead of playoff towels for the 5th consecutive season. In grand fashion, the Knicks gave up a whopping 55 points to the league’s leading scorer in a disappointing 122-105 loss to the Miami Heat. Dwyane Wade - much like fellow MVP candidates LeBron James & Kobe Bryant - relishs playing against Mike D’Antoni’s YMCA brand of defense. D’Antoni is now one of only 10 coaches in league history to go from 50 wins to 50 losses in consecutive seasons. Ironically, the last to accomplish this dubious feat was Larry Brown in his lone season in New York.....FULL ARTICLE

Closing Cost
Shortly after Mike D’Antoni declared 40 wins as the goal for this season, talk of a playoff run became a hot topic. D’Antoni’s Knicks have already eclipsed Isiah Thomas’ win total for last season, but the question remains: can this team close down the stretch? There’s certainly enough talent in place to make a run for the 8th seed, but Saturday night’s loss in Miami was far too telling. Despite dominating their rivals through three quarters, an inadvertent elbow sparked a 4th quarter collapse that may go down as one of the most crushing this year....FULL ARTICLE
